So, I have a crappy $13 board I got at Target just for cheap and easy transportation around college. Well, I never used it then and only recently decided to try riding it. Obviously, it’s absolutely horrible in every way. I want to finally get a real board, and, as I am a huge fan of My Name Is Earl , it just needs to be from Stereo. Anyway, I found this on Ebay, and I’m curious if you have any input on it: !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!

The deck alone is worth almost that much, at least if bought through the Stereo website, and that makes me question the other components... Obviously, anything is an improvement from plastic trucks, slippery griptape, and sticky bearings, but I’d rather just buy the deck alone if I’m going to need to replace all of the components regardless.

Hi there. Longtime skateboarder here (20+ years). Ideally you’d go to your local skateshop, the people there can find the perfect solution for you. Plus supporting small businesses and all.

That aside, that Stereo board you linked to is okay, but on the slim/short side. Not sure how tall you are (shoesize as well), but to begin you wanna consider something at least 8 inches wide. The trucks are not the best out there (Indy’s, Thunder trucks rock), plus the bearings will eventually wear out prematurely.

Again, I’d highly consider going to a local skateshop, so you can stand on it, and get a good, fitting set up for yourself. Costs about 140 or so, all complete.

My 2cents.

I have a friend that makes custom longboards.

She is just starting her business too as she is leaving College.

Its a good deck for the price. I don’t really grasp the ‘My Name is Earl’ connection with ‘STEREO’, however subjectively, the board is a good deal.

Jason Lee is the lead actor in the show, and the founder of Stereo. ;)

Those are awesome! I’d prefer a traditional skateboard, though, but I’ll be sure to keep her in mind if I ever want a longboard.

It’ll also be worth it to connect with local skateboarders in the area, to get some tips, etc.

Have tons of fun, and be safe.

As long as it can let you do Varial Kickflips, go ahead and get it. :P
